4th Day Post Op

Doug had a terrible night. He took a sleeping pill but it did not seem to help and the routine interruptions continue despite it. Oxygen and blood count remain a little lower than they’d like and he’s still retaining water so more Lasik’s were given today. His hands and feet are almost back to normal but his lower back is still swollen from all the liquids they give you in surgery. His lungs are sounding better and his breathing exercises on the spirometer continue to improve.

His appetite is beginning to return but not fully.

He thought he’d be watching a lot of TV/movies but is usually too sleepy. He is doing is walking though and does four laps of the ward for a heart sticker – his goal is 4 stickers a day. Yesterday he got five. He is aware not to push it and rests periodically on each lap otherwise he gets dizzy.
